The real crisis

-

Regarding “When a ‘crisis’ becomes just noise” (Opinion, May 22): While I agree with columnist Ruben Navarrette Jr.’s observation that our country is suffering through an “information crisis,” there are several questions he ought to answer:

1. How can we ensure that our journalists will remain free and independent if President Trump threatens to jail them for publishing classified information?

2. Is it appropriate for a chief executive to use social media like Twitter as a daily form of communication rather than hold frequent press conferences?

3. Isn’t the biggest “information crisis” currently facing our country having an ill-informed leader who doesn’t like to read and doesn’t seem interested in learning how our democratic government functions? Herman Rivera, San Jose
