Yankees 4, Royals 2
NEW YORK — Didi Gregorius, Brett Gardner and Chris Carter homered as New York beat Kansas City’s Jason Vargas for the second time in six days. Vargas, who entered his previous start against New York with a majors-best 1.01 ERA, allowed six runs in four innings in that game and surrendered three in six innings in the rematch. The left-hander fell to 0-7 lifetime the Yankees. Gregorius’ homer in the fourth gave him hits in six consecutive at-bats. His streak ended in his next at-bat when he was robbed of extra bases on a running catch by left fielder Jorge Bonifacio.
