Virtually an improvement

-

Baseball games will come to virtual reality June 1, but be prepared for a curve: Video in the new At Bat VR app won’t actually be in virtual reality. The app puts you behind home plate and traces each pitch’s trajectory (red for strikes and green for balls). The app also lets you hover over icons to see the speed and type of each pitch, and which parts of the strike zone are best for a particular batter. Traditional TV coverage of the games will appear in front of you. It’s included with Major League Baseball’s existing streaming packages, but it doesn’t work with iPhones — only Android phones and headsets compatible with Google’s Daydream VR system.
