The third season of Zander Lehmann’s superb comedy “Casual” is available on Hulu today. The show stars Michaela Watkins, Tommy Dewey and Tara Lynn Barr as members of a comically dysfunctional family. Valerie (Watkins) had moved in with her man-child younger brother, Alex (Dewey), after her divorce, toting her teenage daughter, Laura (Barr), with her. The first two seasons turned on Valerie trying to establish her own identity, but mostly failing to do that, while Alex grew more and more depressed as he realized how stuck he was in his postadolescent past, and Laura just being an independent-minded teenager. The new season begins with Valerie and Laura moving out on their own, but physical separation doesn’t end the dependence they all have on each other. Frances Conroy guest-stars as Alex and Valerie’s manipulative mother.
