Martin Lalor Crimmins, III, died peacefully on Tuesday, 23 May 2017 at St John of God Retirement and Care Center in Los Angeles CA.

Born 31 July 1928 in Atherton CA, Mr Crimmins was the eldest son of Mary Bradley Averill Crimmins & Martin Lalor Crimmins, Jr.

Raised in Atherton, Mr Crimmins attended the University of California at Berkeley, after which he joined the US Merchant Marine before working in the private sector.

On 16 April 1955, he married Eleanor “Bay” Bellinger in White Sulphur Springs WV. Mrs Crimmins died on 20 April 1987 in Watsonvill­e CA.

Mr Crimmins married Martha “Patsy” Thompson House in New York City on 13 October 1994. Mrs Crimmins died on 29 September 2011 in New York.

A confirmed sportsman, Mr Crimmins enjoyed shooting, horseback riding, fishing, skiing and tennis, as well as travel, good food and drink, and lively company. He was an accomplish­ed sculptor who showed his work in New York, Westcheste­r and California. Mr Crimmins returned to his native California in 2012 to live near his daughter Margaret.

Mr Crimmins was predecease­d by his brothers Averill and John.

In addition to his daughter, survivors include his brother Monsignor Michael Crimmins of New York City; son Patrick of Walnut Creek CA; son Martin of Boston MA; and son Thomas of New York City, as well as grandchild­ren Jillian, Holly and Caroline; Morgan; and Molly Bay, Averill and Alice.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Contributi­ons in Mr Crimmins’ memory may be made to Homeboy Industries, 130 W. Bruno St., Los Angeles CA 90012.
