Drivers probably will find nothing funny about multiple street closures around the Civic Center this weekend as the Colossal Clusterfest comedy and music event gets under way Friday.

Some streets already have been barricaded in preparation for the three-day festival featuring big-name comics such as Jerry Seinfeld and Kevin Hart, and music acts like Vince Staples and Ice Cube.

The festival runs from Friday through Sunday, but some street closures began Monday and will last until Wednesday.

Grove Street is closed between Polk and Larkin streets until 4 p.m. Wednesday. Grove Street will be closed from Van Ness Avenue to Hyde Street until 6 a.m. Monday, at which point the block between Van Ness Avenue and Polk Street will reopened. The closure between Hyde and Larkin streets will end at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Fulton Street is closed between Hyde and Larkin streets through 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The southbound lanes of Larkin Street will be closed between Grove and McAllister streets — along the length of Civic Center Plaza — until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Northbound Larkin was closed between Hayes and McAllister streets at 6 a.m. Thursday and will remain blocked until 6 a.m. Monday.

Polk Street was also closed between Hayes and McAllister streets at 6 a.m. Thursday and won’t reopen until 6 a.m. Monday.

Cultural institutions in the area, including the main branch of the San Francisco Public Library and the Asian Art Museum, will keep regular operating hours during the festival, but an advisory from the museum warned visitors that getting there will be more challenging than usual.

The inbound 19-Polk bus line will be rerouted around the Civic Center-area street closures, according to Muni spokesman Paul Rose. Muni also warned that the 5-Fulton, 5RFulton rapid and 21Hayes bus lines might be crowded and have some delays because of the festival.
