Louis de Keyser Belden

Louis de Keyser Belden died peacefully at the age of 90 in San Rafael after suffering a stroke early last month. Louis was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Dr. Louis D. Belden and Frances Pardue Belden on July 11, 1926. He was predeceased by his brother, James P. Belden of Santa Barbara, in 2015. Louis served with the United States Army from 1944 to 1946, and obtained his undergraduate degree in 1949 from Harvard University and his Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University in 1951. He began his investment counseling career in New York, where he worked as a security analyst for Bank of New York, and then as a partner of Brundage, Story & Rose. In 1966, he moved to San Francisco and was president of Wentworth, Dahl & Belden, and then Belden & Associates from 1975 to 2012. He retired from Rand & Associates in 2015 and moved from San Francisco to San Rafael. Louis served as a member of the board of directors of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the World Affairs Council, and Edgewood Center for Children and Families. He was a member of the Harvard Club (New York City), the University Club (New York), the Pacific-Union Club, and Villa Taverna. He was an avid collector of contemporary American and European prints and amassed a museum-quality collection. Louis was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his many friends and clients. Interment of his ashes will be private and a gathering celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, June 22, at 4:00 p.m. For details, please contact CelebrationForLouis@gmail.com.
