November 26, 1921 - May 30, 2017

Rose Hall Gee passed away at age 95, in Longview WA where she lived near family. To all, Rose is wellremembered as a sweet person.

Rose was born in San Francisco in 1921. She lived in Chinatown with her younger sister, Violet, and her parents. In 1929, the family left San Francisco for China, as it had been her father’s dream to return to China, having lived in the United States for 49 years.

Rose and Violet were in China during World War II, staying with their government school when it was forced to relocate farther inland. After the war, with both parents deceased, Rose and Violet repatriated and returned to San Francisco in 1946 where Rose began working at the Bank of Canton and attended night classes to continue her education. She had a long career of increasing responsibility at the Bank of Canton, including manager of the Chinatown Branch and then a vice-president when she retired in 1987. She treasured her long and continued friendships with co-workers of the bank.

Rose married Raymond Gee in 1947. He passed away in 2001. Together with their children, Glenn and Alice, they had wonderful group of friends and extended family who made up their “Poker Gang.” Many generations of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends will miss their Auntie Rose.

Rose’s heart was always in San Francisco, but for the past 18 years, she lived in Longview where she was part of a community that adored her. Among her pastimes was knitting hats for Head Start Preschool children. Thousands of children have owned hats made by Rose!

Rose leaves behind her family who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her two children Glenn Gee (Christina) and Alice Payne (Bill), and four grandchildren, Emily Gee (Andrew Green), Michael Gee (Rachealle Sanford), Michael Payne, and Laura Payne. To Rose’s great happiness, she was the great-grandmother of two-year old Alexandra Lillian Green.

At Rose’s request, there is no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial gift may donate to a charity of their choice.
