Students not ready for college
Regarding “Harvard revokes admissions over online remarks” ( June 6): Those 10 students revealed themselves not only as morally unfit but as utterly clueless and not ready for any college. Peter Smalley, Berkeley
Feinstein fit to lead
I wrote one book and edited another last year. I routinely take part in activities at Stanford and have my hands full keeping up with Charlotte Shultz. From my standpoint of 96 years old, I consider Sen. Dianne Feinstein to be a promising young woman.

Sick of all the ads
Regarding “Rare bipartisan support in health care reform bill” (Insight, June 4): I’m sick of pharmaceutical companies’ ads on the radio and TV telling me to “tell your doctor about” their new products after listing all the illnesses these products may cause or exacerbate.
Drug prices would become reasonable if those companies would stop spending billions of dollars to inflict these stupid ads upon us.

Hazardous events
Regarding “Community festivals likely to outlast bigticket events” ( Joe Mathews, June 4): One big reason that festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo might falter is the fact that they leave big carbon footprints.
It’s both unfortunate and ironic that California, which has a reputation as an environmentally forward-thinking state, hosts Coachella, which generates tons of trash — particularly those $5 bottles of water. In addition, the thousands of attendees who drive to these events are also increasing air pollution. Advertisements for these “big-ticket events” ought to come with a warning label: Attendance may be hazardous to the environment.

Comey showboat
Early on in the Senate Intelligence committee testimony of former FBI Director James Comey, it became clear why he was fired. He forgot the first rule of showboating. In any hierarchy, there is room for only one showboat. If you happen to be the junior ranking showboat, as Comey was, your tenure will be short. The second rule of showboating is that the United States Senate is an exception to the first rule.
