Richard E. Gee, Sr., 84, of Mount Pleasant, SC passed away peacefully at his home with his wife Ardis by his side on May 30, 2017 due to complicati­ons with COPD.

Richard was born in East Orange, NJ. He was a graduate of West Orange High School, served in the US Army, and was a graduate of Upsala College. Richard had a varied career in sales, banking and accounting. He loved God, family, country and human- ity, and dedicated his life to helping others especially with Friends of Bill W.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Albert V. and Margaret M. Gee, and by his older brother, Albert V. Gee, Jr. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Ardis Jerome, his children; Richard E. Gee, Jr (Wendy); Karen Frehafer (Jack); Carol Toole (Leslie); Laurie Hallett (Steve); his beloved 9 grandchild­ren and 3 great-grandsons; stepchildr­en Drea Dixon and Vince Jerome, 6 step grandchild­ren, 3 step great-grandchild­ren and many dear friends.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, June 17, Northwood Baptist Church Chapel, 2200 Greenridge Rd., North Charleston, SC 29406. Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial is assisting with arrangemen­ts. A Memorial Service will be held in San Francisco on Saturday August 5th at 1:30 PM at Dry Dock 2118 Greenwich Street. At his request, his ashes will be buried at Sea.

Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made by members of Friends of Bill W to The Dry Dock, 2118 Greenwich St., San Francisco, CA 94123, and by non-members to The American Legion Post 136, PO Box 384, Isle of Palms, SC 29451.
