Donna V. Hazlett passed away peacefully at the age of 79. She was born in Great Falls, Montana; the family moving soon to Oregon, Washington and then to Vallejo, California in 1950, where she attended Hogan Junior High, and Vallejo High School. Donna met Gordon Hazlett, the “love of her life”, while in her freshman year at San Jose State. They married in 1958 and lived in San Francisco, Ross, and settled in Kentfield. Donna was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She delighted in caring for family and her community. She is predeceased by Gordon her husband of 50 years, her parents Rollo and Edith Vaaler, sister Helen, brother Bud (Rolf), and brother Alan. She is survived by: her son, Steven (Jessi) of Oakridge, Oregon; her daughter Leslie (David) Ross; her grandchildren Lauren and Grant Ross and her brother, Gary Vaaler.

Donna gave generously of her time as volunteer, officer, and board member of many organizations, including Masque Unit of Marin and Children’s Theater Association of San Francisco. She was passionate about bringing musical theater to children in the Bay Area. Her ability and creativity would shine while working on an artistic project. Whether she was performing, directing, costuming, or supporting, she was committed to the group’s success and enjoyed it all. Donna was also a member of the singing group Songbirds and performed with them on holiday concert tours to Bay Area retirement communities.

We warmly welcome family and friends to join us in a memorial celebration of her life to be held at St. John’s Church in Ross on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00am.

Donations in Mrs. Hazlett’s memory may be made to Masque Unit of Marin and Children’s Theater Association of San Francisco.
