Meet for a purpose
If invited, the Golden State Warriors should visit the White House and use the opportunity to respectfully deliver a message.
Each player could offer President Trump a photo and handwritten letter on behalf of someone whose life is being threatened by the president’s actions: a child struggling to learn in a public school without enough teachers, a refugee family that is trying to contribute to their new community, and a pregnant single mom without a job who fears that the president’s plans for health insurance will leave her unable to get proper care.
Any chance we get to remind someone of the importance of fairness, wisdom and compassion — especially someone with the power of the presidency — should not be squandered. This would also enable the Warriors to accept the president’s invitation without appearing to accept his philosophies. Anh Oppenheimer, San Francisco
