Osuna feels ‘weird’

-

Toronto closer Roberto Osuna says he is out of sorts mentally, feeling “anxious” and “weird.” And that is why he made himself unavailable to pitch Friday, when the Blue Jays blew a 4-1 lead in the ninth and lost 5-4 to the Royals.

“I really don’t know how to explain it . ... I feel like I’m lost a little bit right now,” he said Saturday through an interpreter. “I feel great physically. It’s just more mentally. I feel a little bit anxious, a little bit weird. I feel like I’m not myself right now.”

Osuna, 22, has 19 saves this season.

Buehrle honored: Before the A’s trounced the White Sox 10-2, Chicago retired Mark Buehrle’s No. 56 jersey. Buehrle gave a 4-minute tribute to the fans and the organization with which he spent 12 of his 16 seasons.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Buehrle, 38, who was flanked by his wife, two children, mother and father at the 30minute ceremony. “I really can’t put it into words how I feel . ... It’s a special day.”

Buehrle recorded 161 of his 214 victories in a Chicago uniform. Rangers’ Perez hurt: Texas put left-hander Martin Perez on the 10day disabled list after he injured the thumb on his non-pitching hand in an accident at the team hotel.

Perez ripped off the finger nail and broke a bone at the tip of his right thumb when he caught it in the hinge of a door Thursday in New York. The roster move is retroactive to Friday, and infielder-outfielder Drew Robinson was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Briefly: X-rays were negative for Twins outfielder Max Kepler, who fouled a ball of his foot Friday . ... Padres infielder Yangervis Solarte was put on the 10-day DL with a strained left oblique.
