-

Born and raised in San Francisco, Ron was a 3rd generation resident. Ron attended Lafayette Grammar School, Presidio Junior High School, and Lowell High School. Ron graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Geopolitics and subsequently attended Hastings College of Law.

After a short stint at the Army Security Agency in Washington, D.C, Ron worked in the public relations and advertising business before moving back to San Francisco. From 1956 to the time that he retired in 1980, Ron passionately worked as a real estate broker and investor.

Ron met the love of his life, Diane Franklin, on a blind date the summer of 1959 and they were married that same year on December 4. He referred to her daily as “sweetie” and they were very happily married and truly best friends for 58 years.

In Ron’s free time, he spent countless hours creating leaded glass windows, gardening, and his favorite self-described activity of “puttering around the house”. He also had a love for photography and videography which is evidenced by his collection of cameras and lenses. He and Diane shared a passion for travel, especially to France, Italy and Greece. A large collection of photographs of their travels are on display throughout their home.

Ron is survived by his wife, Diane and his three children, Jeffrey Leon, Gregory Leon, and Jackie Lewey and her husband Steven Lewey. He was the grandfather to seven grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, Jordan, Parker, Connor, Cole, and Paige and the greatgrandfather to Laurna. Ron was the son of Joseph and Ruth Leon and is survived by his sister, Suzanne Feder and his brother, Fred Leon. Ron extended his heartfelt thanks to his caretaker and friend, Catalina Nieves, who offered him unconditional support and companionship during the later years of his life.

The immediate family celebrated Ron’s life on June 18. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Northern California located at 1700 Owens Street, San Francisco, CA 94158.
