Marjorie M. Raike

-

Marjorie M. Raike passed away gently on June 2, 2017 with family at her side at age 86.

A fourth generation San Franciscan, Marjorie was raised in Atherton and attended the Castilleja School followed by Stephens College in Columbia, MO. She was the daughter of Marjorie and Martin Mitau and granddaughter of May and Herbert Fleishhacker.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters Diane and Jennifer, her son Andrew and daughter-in-law Debbie. Many friends join her family in mourning her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Damon Raike, their son, Thomas and her sister, Patricia Rhein.

Marjorie had a lifelong passion for learning about Native American culture, inspired by a trip to the Southwest with her family in the 1940s. She lived many seasons in Paradise Valley, AZ where she continued to appreciate and support the local artists.

She shared her love of animals with her family, always with a dog (or four) at her side, cats on the counter and spoiled canary birds singing their hearts out. She was a generous woman with a quick wit and easy smile.

A skilled chef and consummate hostess she provided delicious meals for family and friends. Her gatherings never left her guests hungry.

Marjorie continued her love of learning throughout her life, mastering Google as a vehicle to explore the world when her body no longer gave the option to do so in person.

Her family wishes to thank Sutter Hospice Santa Rosa for their skilled and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local SPCA or charity of your choice.
