CARUSO-Henry A. Of Millbrae, CA, on Sunday, July 2, 2017. Born San Francisco, CA, October 13, 1932, to Jake and Domenica (Chetta) Caruso. Beloved husband of Wilma (Fabris), devoted father of Jake (Elena Miller Caruso) and Roman (Ginger Confer Caruso), and grandfathe­r of Henry, Madeleine, Caroline, Mariella and Camilla Caruso. Henry graduated from San Francisco State University with a M.A. and a B.A. An authority on Childhood Education, and particular­ly Special Education, his career began as a teacher in the San Francisco Unified School District in 1954. In 43 years with the San Francisco Unified School District, he served as Principal of numerous Special Education programs, Louise M. Lombard High School and Francis Scott Key Elementary School. He was also an Instructor at San Francisco State University. His dedication to community and family was lived through his service to many charitable organizati­ons. He was President of the California State Federation, Council for Exceptiona­l Children and the Millbrae School Parent Teachers Associatio­n. He was also a Board member of Special Olympics, San Francisco, CA and the Easter Seal Society, San Mateo, CA. He served on many Advisory Committees including the San Francisco Unified School District, the San Mateo County Task Force on Disabiliti­es, the Developmen­tal Disabiliti­es Council of San Francisco, the City College of San Francisco, the Boy Scouts of America, San Francisco, and the Social Developmen­t Centers, San Francisco. He, also, coached soccer for the American Youth Soccer Organizati­on and baseball for the Lions Club of Millbrae. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1310 Bayswater Avenue, Burlingame, CA on Monday, July 17, at 10 AM with private internment immediatel­y following. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons in his memory may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607, attn: Lucy Baez.
