Penguins reward Dumoulin with deal

-

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin agreed to a six-year deal through the 2022-23 season. The contract will pay him an average of $4.1 million per season.

Dumoulin, 25, had one goal and 14 assists during the 2016-17 regular season, then added three goals and 11 assists during Pittsburgh’s run to the Stanley Cup this spring. He hasn’t missed a playoff game during the team’s sprint to back-toback titles.

The New York Islanders signed defenseman Adam Pelech, 22, to a four-year, $6.4 million contract extension.

“It’s a great feeling when an organization puts that type of faith in you,” Pelech said.

Pelech had three goals and seven assists in 44 games last season, averaging 16 minutes, 50 seconds ice time per game.
