Paint it black

Microsoft is killing off its Paint software, which debuted in 1985 as part of Windows 1.0, the Guardian reports. Its crude aesthetic, born in a bitmapped era, found fresh popularity in online memes as it aged into digital kitsch. The software company is removing it this fall as part of the ironically named “Fall Creators Update” to Windows 10.
