Warriors’ Green sued by couple

Warriors forward Draymond Green has been sued by a former Michigan State football player and the man’s girlfriend nearly a year after an encounter outside a restaurant in East Lansing, Mich.

Jermaine Edmonson and Bianca Williams said in a news conference in Los Angeles that they are seeking unspecifie­d damages after an encounter last July ended with Green allegedly hitting Edmonson in the face.

“I think about what happened with Draymond every day,” Edmonson said in a story posted on ESPN.com. “I still feel his hand on my jaw. There are nights where I wake up crying.”

ESPN said Green’s publicrela­tions firm released a statement, calling the lawsuit’s allegation­s “misinforma­tion.” Golf: San Francisco’s Joshua Lim, an incoming senior at Lowell, shot a 1-under-par 67 to lead of group of 16 qualifiers on the first day of the 89th annual San Francisco Junior Golf Tournament at Lincoln Park. The 15 low scorers and defending champion Rajvir Bedi of San Jose advanced to Wednesday morning’s first round of match play. Quarterfin­als will be Wednesday afternoon, with the tournament’s semifinals and finals scheduled for Thursday. Boxing: Movie theaters around the U.S. will show the Aug. 26 fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor.

NHL: The Rangers signed center Mika Zibanejad to a $26.75 million, five-year deal. The 24-year-old Swede had 14 goals and 23 assists in 56 games last season, his first with New York . ... The New Jersey Devils re-signed restricted-free-agent defenseman Mirco Mueller, forward Joseph Blandisi and goaltender Scott Wedgewood. Mueller, a former Shark, got a two-year deal worth an average of $850,000 a season . ... Former Sharks forward Matt Nieto avoided arbitratio­n with the Avalanche by agreeing to a one-year, $1 million contract.
