Pritchett keeps top spot in Top Fuel

Pritchett maintained the No. 1 qualifying position in Top Fuel for Sunday’s 11 a.m. eliminatio­ns at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday as no one was able to best her track record elapsed time set the day before.

Brittany Force took the No. 2 spot after a pass of 3.689 at 300.63 Saturday. Pritchett earned her fifth No. 1 spot of the season with a 3.669 at 304.8 Friday.

Robert Hight earned the top spot in Funny Car, Drew Skillman in Pro Stock and Matt Smith in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

LE Tonglet won in his first race in the Pro Bike Battle, taking the No. 3 spot for Sunday’s races.

Tonglet earned $7,500 in the all-star bonus race featuring the top eight Pro Stock Motorcycle­s riders.

NASCAR Trucks: Kyle Busch dominated another race and was clearly the driver to beat until a late wreck knocked him out of the race. Kyle Busch Motorsport­s still took the checkered flag. Christophe­r Bell passed John Hunter Nemechek for the lead with six laps left and held on to win the race at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa. IndyCar: Will Power won his fifth pole of the season and fellow Team Penske driver Josef Newgarden qualified second for Sunday’s Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sport Car Course in Lexington.

Power won the Fast 6 qualifier with a lap of 126.672 mph as Chevrolet took the top two spots. It was the 49th pole of Power’s career, tying Bobby Unser for fourth all-time among IndyCar drivers.

Formula One: Starting from pole position on a tight circuit that severely limits overtaking drivers, Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel will be looking for his fourth win of the season in Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest after securing a 1-2 start in Saturday’s qualifying.
