Mary Hall Prout died Monday morning, July 24th, 2017 at her residence at The Tamalpais in Greenbrae, Marin County, California.

She was born in San Francisco, California at St. Mary’s Help Hospital on August 7th of 1921

Mary graduated from high school at Moreland Notre Dame Academy in Watsonvill­e, California and from college at the California State University of San Jose.

Mary had a very rewarding career of forty years as the Director of the Richmond Children Centers of Richmond Unified School District.

In death she is predecease­d by her parents John Nicholas and Anna Flanagan Hall, her husband Lynne L. Prout, her brother-in-law, Alex R. Thomas Jr. and by her nieces, Mary Catherine Thomas and Anne Thomas Ito.

She is survived by her sister, Gabrielle Hall Thomas and by her nephews, Alex R. Tom and Mary Leittem Thomas, John H. and Wendy Mae Thomas, Stephen N. and Diana Thomas and Daniel C. and Becky Thomas and by seventeen great nephews and nieces and two great-great nephews.

She is also survived by her two sons, Rev. Daniel and Kathy Prout and Clay and Laura Prout.

Mary gives thanks to the wonderful staff and friends at The Tamalpais for their kind care and aid in her last years.

A Memorial Mass and Rosary will be held at her parish church of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church in Kentfield, California at 10:30 AM on Friday the 28th of July, 2017

Burial will follow at a later date in the Hall-Flanagan plot at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Gilroy, California.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to ‘The Mary Catherine Thomas Fund’ of the St. Mary’s School Foundation of Ukiah, 991 South Dora, Ukiah, California 95482.
