Ann Shaw Young passed away on July 10, 2017 after a battle with cancer. She was born on December 8, 1944 to Edwin and Cristela Shaw, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, F. Chandler Young. Ann & Chan shared a passion for traveling visiting such places as Hong Kong, Bangkok, Spain, the West Indies, Hawaii and Puerto Vallarta to name a few. They resided in the San Francisco Bay Area and mostly in Foster City during their marriage.

Ann graduated from Flour Bluff High School in 1962. She obtained her bachelor’s degree with a major in journalism and a minor in English from Texas Women’s University. After graduation, Ann enlisted in the Navy where she served as a public affairs officer and had tours at the Pentagon and CINCPAC Fleet in Honolulu, Hawaii. While Ann was in the Navy, she shipped her father over while he was on board the USS America. Ann’s father was especially proud of her Navy duty as his entire career was with the Navy.

Ann was a producer and on air broadcaster for CBS and NBC through the 1970’s. During that time, she was a recipient of the Edgar R. Murrow award in the late seventies, which was presented to her by Walter Cronkite. Ann also worked for the program TEMPO, which was produced by Regis Philbin. After her broadcasting career, Ann started her public relations firm that catered to prestigious clients in the United States and in the UK that included Gump’s and Swaine Adeney.

Throughout the years, Ann was a supporter of environmental causes and an art Patron. Ann is also survived by her siblings Eddie (Linda) Shaw, Donna Patterson, James Shaw and Robert (Pam) Shaw.
