Joyce Marie Wall

Joyce Marie Wall passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and caregivers, on August 9, 2017. Born in San Francisco on March 2, 1935, Joyce was the beloved daughter of Virginia and Terence Munday (both deceased), loving husband Peter (deceased) and brother Terence (Jackie). She was the mother to six children: Stephen (deceased), Michael (Suzanne), Kathleen Pastore (Carl), Patti Merrigan (Ken), Peter (Jennifer) and Jim (Nancy). She was grandmother to fourteen grandchildren: Sarah, Kevin, Daniel and Amelie Wall; Alyssa, Jennifer and Matthew Pastore; Kelsey, Kyle and Lindsey Merrigan; Sofia and Jordan Wall; and Josie and Allison Wall. She is also survived by her long-term caregiver and best friend, Geraldine Dimagmaliw.

Joyce was baptized at Mission Dolores (San Francisco) and attended Notre Dame High School in Belmont, CA. She earned her nursing degree at St Mary’s College of Nursing. She married Peter Wall, an Air Force veteran and USF graduate at Nativity Church (Menlo Park) on November 26, 1955. They settled in Belmont, CA where they raised their six children.

Joyce was an active volunteer at Immaculate Heart of Mary where her children attended elementary school. She was the nurse at Notre Dame High School and worked at several convalescent hospitals.

Throughout her life, Joyce was a kindhearted and passionate advocate for FHAR, an organization which supports adults with intellectual disabilities. She loved to play bridge, swim and bowl, as well as attend her children’s and grandchildren’s performances and sporting events.

Funeral Mass Services will occur Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 10:00am, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1040 Alameda De Las Pulgas, Belmont, CA 94002. In lieu of

flowers, the family requests donations to be made to: FHAR (Family Housing and Assistance Resources - Fhar.org) or Notre Dame High School in Belmont in memory of Joyce M. Wall.
