JoAnn P. Poullaries

-

JoAnn Patricia Poullaries died peacefully on July 31, 2017, in Palo Alto, CA. A native San Franciscan, JoAnn attended Immaculate Conception Academy, and received her Master’s degree in Education from the University of San Francisco. Nurtured in a large Irish family, JoAnn lived a life based on Faith and demonstrated service.

As a dedicated elementary teacher, JoAnn also taught kindergarteners at Buri Buri School for over 25 years, enjoying lasting family friendships and received The PTA Founder’s Award for her outstanding service. JoAnn’s relocation to Palo Alto offered new opportunities for service: Stanford Hospital’s Newborn Hearing Testing, Avenidas’s volunteer groups, and her dear St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

JoAnn’s passion for travel throughout Europe, Japan, Australia & New Zealand, were replaced with her favorite Regents cruises. Her joy was also sharing San Francisco museums & special places with her “Camino Place” family.

JoAnn was pre-deceased by her loving parents, Evelyn and Henry Poullaries and brother, George Poullaries. She is survived by her cousins, Patricia and John Keegan, Frank and Helen Sullivan, David and Carol Sullivan, Jim and Susan Mau, her Godson and family, Sean, Theresa, Kevan and Andrew Keegan, and other family members and many loving friends.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate JoAnn’s life: Visitation will be held from 4:30 until 8:30 pm on August 15th, 2017 at Spangler Mortuary in Los Altos, with Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on August 16, 2017 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Los Altos. Burial will follow the funeral at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Los Altos. Memorial donations may be made in JoAnn’s name to St. Anthony Foundation or Immaculate Conception Academy, both in San Francisco.
