Quakes beaten on road again

Jefferson Savarino, Albert Rusnak and Yura Movsisyan scored in the second half to help Real Salt Lake rout the Earthquake­s 4-0 in Sandy, Utah, on Wednesday night.

Luis Silva opened the scoring for Real Salt Lake (9-13-5) in the 29th minute. He raced down Rusnak’s long pass on a counteratt­ack and split the legs of goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell from the corner of the 6-yard box.

San Jose (9-11-6) has lost six straight games away from home, going 2-10-1 on the road this season.

The Earthquake­s’ Anibal Godoy received his second yellow card in the 61st minute for an open hand to the face of Rusnak, bringing San Jose down to 10 men. Colleges: Facebook has struck a deal for exclusive rights to live stream 15 college football games this season, including a Sept. 23 San Jose State game.

The deal with Stadium, a digital sports network, gives Facebook the rights to six Mountain West games and nine Conference USA games, which will not be televised. The first game will be C-USA’s Marshall at Miami of Ohio on Sept. 2.

Former Stanford standout Tabitha Yim has been named head coach of the Cardinal women’s gymnastics team. Yim, a former Cardinal assistant coach, spent the past two seasons as Arizona’s head coach. NFL: Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson has elected to go with DeShone Kizer, a second-round pick from Notre Dame, over veterans Brock Osweiler and Cody Kessler at quarterbac­k.

The New York Giants waived Michael Bowie days after finding out that the offensive lineman had been charged with assault and battery in Oklahoma.

Chad Henne will start Jacksonvil­le’s preseason game against Carolina, a change that could signal the end of Blake Bortles’ career as a Jaguar. Baseball: Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. will have his sprained left thumb in a splint for five to seven days after being injured Tuesday night during a slide. Bradley was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday.

The St. Louis Cardinals announced that closer Trevor Rosenthal was being moved from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day DL and that his right elbow injury would require Tommy John surgery.

Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis is on the DL again with a strained right hamstring. Kipnis returned recently after missing a month but was removed from Tuesday night’s game against Boston. Infielder Erik Gonzalez was recalled from Triple-A Columbus. NBA: The Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement with Oklahoma City’s Michael Winger to become their general manager. Winger will replace Dave Wohl, who is staying with L.A. as a special adviser. WNBA: Kayla Thornton’s three-pointer pulled the Dallas Wings to within 89-85 with 24 seconds left, but the host Connecticu­t Sun hit six straight free throws in the final 30 seconds to win 93-87 . ... Sugar Rodgers scored all of her gamehigh 16 points in the first half and the New York Liberty won their sixth straight and sent the host Indiana Fever to their fifth straight loss, 71-50 . ... Cal alum Layshia Clarendon had a teamrecord 14 assists for host Atlanta as the Dream beat the Seattle Storm 89-83 to end a nine-game losing streak.
