Clara J. Lyons passed away peacefully on August 23, 2017, after a 9 year battle with cancer, which she fought courageous­ly. She was the beloved wife of Cornelius (Neil) Lyons, loving mother of Janet (Greg) Cacharelis, Jean (Brian) Wisecarver, Jacqueline (Eric) Cowans, and Maria (Chris) Brill. The proud grandmothe­r of Nicholas and Matthew Cacharelis, Neil (Ashley) and Caroline Wisecarver, Danielle and Blake Cowans, Olivia and Harper Brill.

She was the adored daughter of John Spina (deceased), Maria Stanz (deceased) and stepdaught­er of Barney Stanz (deceased). Devoted daughter in law to Matthew and Elizabeth Lyons (both deceased). Caring sister of Maria Jordan (Richard deceased), Lucy Barrier (Edward deceased), Mickey Yaquinto (Tony deceased), Steve Spina (Willa), and Anthony Spina (deceased) (Rosalind). She was a cherished Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Clara was a native of San Francisco, where she graduated from St. Paul’s High School. Neil and Clara were happily married at St. Phillip’s Church on November 7, 1959. Together, they started a family and moved to San Mateo County to raise their children in Burlingame. Upon their well-deserved retirement, they moved to San Mateo. Clara was an avid golfer and a member at both, Crystal Springs & Tahoe Donner Women’s Golf Club. While she was good at all sports, she was most passionate about golf. Clara was very proud of all of her grandchild­ren. She was their biggest supporter attending every school play, dance, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball games. She was famous for her delicious biscotti and her equally cherished dinners. Clara loved every bit of life and was always up for an adventure. She is going to be missed dearly by all.

A vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday August 31, 2017 at Our Lady of Angels Church 1721 Hillside Dr, Burlingame, CA 94010. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday September 1, 2017, 10:30am at Our Lady of Angels Church 1721 Hillside Dr, Burlingame, CA.

Commital at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
