Thomas P. Coleman

Thomas Patrick Coleman, husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, good friend and always the gentleman, passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease in Edmonds, WA on August 3, 2017. He was 82.

Tom, the son of the late Ethel (Coleman) Moore and Thomas Coleman, was born in Newton, NJ on July 19, 1935 and raised in Newark, NJ. He attended St. Benedict’s High School, Seton Hall University and the Harvard Executive Program. Tom served overseas in the US Army during the Korean War from 1954 through 1957. Upon returning, he worked for the Internal Revenue Service until his retirement as the Western Regional Commission­er in 1995. He then went on to work for Coopers & Lybrand and as an independen­t tax consultant. He enjoyed his work as a volunteer for the San Ramon Police Department and Saint Joan of Arc Church as well as his membership­s in the Knights of Columbus and The Irish American Society. He lived in NJ until moving to San Ramon, CA in 1984. He spent the past 2 years in Edmonds, WA.

Tom is survived by his three daughters: Susan Tosto of Pound Ridge NY and her husband Frank; Maureen Lico of Seattle WA and her husband Jim; and Kathleen Coleman of Sacramento CA. He is also survived by his 6 grandchild­ren: Christine, Matthew and Cate Lico and Ryan, Sarah and Lauren Tosto. He is also survived by his sister Susan Hattersley of Hackettsto­wn NJ. He was predecease­d by his wife Sheila (Fynn) Coleman.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a Memorial Mass, Saturday, September 9th, 11:00am at St. Joan of Arc Church of San Ramon, immediatel­y followed by a reception at the San Ramon Marriott. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Veterans Services Fund, PO Box 2465, Darien CT 06820.
