Olga Amador

February 26, 1929 - September 3, 2017

-

Olga passed away September 3, 2017, at age 88. She was the beloved wife of the late Cesar Amador; loving mother of Maria (Rusty) and “Douglas” Cesar (Patty); caring grandma of five grandchildren: Adrienne, Alexis, Ben, Dalton and Laura; proud great grandmother of Blake, A.J., Payton, Cameron, Braden, Bella, Dylan, Brooklyn, Beckett, and Jax. She is also survived by nephews Leo, Carlos and Casey, and nieces Cecilia, Elizabeth and Kitty. She was preceded in death by her siblings Guillermo, Gladys, Nelly, Rafael, Jaime and Elena; her niece Beatrice and her nephew Guillermo.

Olga was born February 26, 1929, in Leon, Nicaragua. After she graduated high school in Nicaragua, she and her family moved to San Francisco, where she met Cesar Amador through her brother, Jaime, who was friends with Cesar. They were wed June 4, 1949, and remained married for 47 years until Cesar’s death on September 8, 1996.

Olga worked at Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco for 25 years. She enjoyed retirement and loved spending time with family and friends. She cherished Bingo Night with many family and friends who would gather on a weekend night to laugh and banter one another and play for 25 cents a card. Her laugh was infectious, and once she got rolling with her sisters Gladys and Elena, there was no stopping them.

Olga loved animals, whether it was the many cats and dogs she cared for over the years, or the hummingbirds that visited her porch feeder. Her little dog Henry was her companion for more than a decade after her husband passed away. Her love of animals was passed on to her children, who to this day continue to bring cats and dogs and other critters into their homes.

Our mother was generous, kind, reliable and loyal, opening her house to any and all that needed a place to call home. She will be greatly missed by all whose hearts she touched.

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Brendan’s Church, 29 Rockaway Avenue, San Francisco. Interment at Golden Gate National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to San Francisco SPCA, 201 Alabama Street, San Francisco, CA 94103; or online at SFSPCA.org.
