The first player signed by the 49ers’ new regime has become the first player to receive a contract extension from the new bosses.

On Friday, the 49ers signed nickel cornerback K’Waun

Williams to a three-year extension through 2020. The deal is worth up to $10 million with incentives and includes $5 million guaranteed, the NFL Network reported. The 49ers began their offseason overhaul by signing Williams on Feb. 22, 16 days after head coach Kyle

Shanahan was hired. “K’Waun is the same guy every day,” Shanahan said. “He does everything the right way; he works as hard he can every day …

“When you have someone like that, if they stay healthy, they get better. He’s already playing at a high level, and I know because of the person he is and the character he has, he’ll continue to get better.”

Williams, 26, has assumed the slot corner role previously held by Jimmie Ward, who was moved to free safety in the offseason. In three games, Williams has 14 tackles and two pass breakups.

Williams, who went undrafted, is in his first season with the 49ers, but he has a long-standing relationship with secondary coach Jeff Hafley.

Then at the University of Pittsburgh, Hafley recruited Williams and was his position coach when he was a freshman in 2010. They were also together during Williams’ first two seasons (2014-15) in the NFL with the Browns. Williams was Cleveland’s nickel corner, but missed the 2016 season because of an ankle injury.

Williams, who went undrafted, isn’t used to having much security in his career.

“It’s different; it’s a whole different feeling,” Williams said. “But it’s still football. I’m still going to come to work and still do what I’ve got to do. Handle my business.”

Williams was one of several notable players in the final year of their contract. Running back Carlos Hyde, safety Eric Reid, center Daniel Kilgore, cornerback Dontae Johnson, defensive tackle Tank Carradine and defensive end Aaron Lynch are among those eligible to be free agents in 2018. Anthem plan: Shanahan said the players are deciding what they want to do during the national anthem before Sunday’s game at Arizona. Shanahan and players have said they would do something together in a show of solidarity.

“They just want to show their support for everyone in this country,” Shanahan said. “You’ve got to a find a way to do that and you’ve got to be careful with it because who knows how people are going to interpret it?

“But I know their goal is to show they support everyone in this country and everyone’s beliefs. Starting with the military and then going to everyone’s differences and beliefs, and people that are fighting for positive change.” Injury report: Fullback Kyle Juszczyk became the last of three players in the concussion protocol to shed his non-contact jersey in practice.

Juszczyk, safety Jaquiski Tartt and linebacker Brock Coyle, who each sustained concussions last week, are listed as questionable for Sunday.

Running back Carlos Hyde (hip) is also questionable, although he’s likely to play after finishing last week’s loss to the Rams.

Reid (knee) and linebacker Reuben Foster (ankle) have been ruled out.
