Mike’s contagious smile, sharp wit, desire to help and love of home will forever be remembered by countless family, friends and acquaintances.

A native of the Bay Area, born and raised in Mountain View and Half Moon Bay by his parents Louis Renner and Katie Schelbert Renner, Mike was the third of 6 children: Louis (deceased), Catherine Pointon, Anna Gamma, Albert (Maria) Renner, Marilyn Williams.

In his early years, Mike helped with the family farm milking cows, working on the hay press and many other jobs needed to contribute to his family’s livelihood. Following his service in the Coast Guard, he entered Court Reporting School in San Francisco where he met his beloved wife of 61 years, Martha Westermann Renner. He founded Renner Reporting Service in San Francisco and retired in 1995.

Mike had a passion for his family, golf, tinkering around the house especially with his woodworking skills and taking his family on fabulous vacations from road and camping adventures to sailing and skiing trips. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of the Olympic Club and always made sure his clubs were in the car even when going on family trips.

Mike passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2017 after a ten year battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by his wife and daughters, Mary Lu Lehman and Janet Renner, and long time family friend Paul Nepote. He was predeceased by daughter Heidi Renner.

He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Christopher J. Inglis (Caroline), Jaime Lehman, Grant Lehman, 2 great-grandchildren, Gabriela and Bruce, and numerous nephews and nieces.

A Celebratory Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 6th at Church of the Nativity, 210 Oak Grove Ave., Menlo Park
