A third-generation San Franciscan, Vivian Russo died on September 29, 2017. She is survived by Frank Russo, her loving husband of 63 years, and children Laura Banash (Stanley), Frank Russo III (Webster), and John Russo (Angela). She is also survived by four grandchild­ren (Lisa, Ryan, Rebekah and Anthony) and two great grandchild­ren (Christophe­r and Jason) and her older brother “Ed”. Vivian was predecease­d by her parents, L. R. Douthit and Rebecca Douthit McCarthy and siblings Claire Brake, David Douthit and Eugene Valjean, niece Patti, and nephews Edward and Dale Jr.

Vivian was educated at Winfield Scott Elementary, Marina Jr. High and, after a short stint in Redwood City schools, the High School of Commerce. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from San Francisco State after her retirement from United Airlines. Frank and Vivian enjoyed traveling, and visited many major cities within six continents of the world.

Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Cambria, CA, at a date to be announced. Donations may be made in Vivian’s memory to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2300 Eton Road, Cambria CA 93428 or to the Fine Arts Museums (The finest museums anywhere!), 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive, San Francisco CA 94118.
