Emma M. Odello

-

May 15, 1919 to September 24, 2017

San Francisco native and Los Altos resident Emma Odello, 98, passed away on September 24, shortly after suffering a stroke.

Emma, aka Irma, daughter of Mary and John Mercurio, was born and raised in the Excelsior District of San Francisco along with her brother Gino. She graduated from Balboa High School and worked at Bank of America. In 1951 she met and married her husband of 62 years, Michael Odello.

She accompanied Michael to Spokane, Wash. and Berlin, Germany while he was in the Army. During this time their three daughters were born.

After Mike’s retirement from the Army in 1966 they started a successful family real estate business where Emma’s office and banking experience proved invaluable.

Emma was an avid reader and follower of national politics, reading the daily newspaper well into her 90s; she was more than willing to update her less informed daughters on current affairs. She also enjoyed cooking, tending her garden, and traveling with family.

Emma’s kindness, humor, and love will be deeply missed by daughters, Marilyn, Linda, and Annette, their spouses, four grandchildren, and loving extended family and friends.

Funeral mass to be held at 11am, Sat., Oct. 7, 2017 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 473 Lincoln Ave., Los Altos, CA.
