No plans to repeat anthem display

The team-wide demonstration the 49ers staged during the national anthem Sunday evidently will not be reprised.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he didn’t anticipate another show of unity prior to the 49ers’ game Sunday in Indianapolis.

“As far as going forward, they haven’t mentioned anything to me,” Shanahan said. “I’m assuming that we’ll go back to doing whatever you’ve done for the flag the rest of your life. I know I will. If they bring anything to my attention that they’d like to do, then I’ll have that discussion with them.”

In Arizona, the players formed two rows with about 30 players kneeling in front. The standing players in the back placed their hand on the shoulder of a kneeling teammate, while every player looked to the flag with his right hand over his chest.

“I think everyone wanted the opportunity to show the unity and show that we were together regardless of any differences of opinion,” Shanahan said. “I think the players were pleased with that.” Goodwin practices: Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was limited in practice three days after sustaining his fourth concussion in less than 14 months.

Shanahan said Goodwin was injured on an 18-yard reception in the first quarter of an 18-15 overtime loss.

“It doesn’t look (like a big hit), so that’s why it wasn’t real obvious,” Shanahan said. “But if you slow it down, he did land a little bit on his head and to the ground. That’s where he thinks it happened. He didn’t notice it right away and he stayed in for about four more plays, I think.

“Then he came to the sidelines and started feeling some stuff, so he talked to them and then they got him right away to evaluate him. Then it got stronger as they were evaluating him, so they shut him down.”

Shanahan was asked if the team would handle Goodwin’s situation differently given his history. He had three concussions last year with the Bills, and has been diagnosed with five since 2014.

“I think we all know how serious those things are, and I think whether you have one or whether you have a lot, we still handle them all as delicately as you could,” Shanahan said. “… I think everyone knows how serious those things are and you’ve got to look into everything.” Injury report: Running backs Carlos Hyde (hip) and Matt Breida (ankle) were limited in practice.

Hyde said he “felt a lot better” Wednesday and his injury wasn’t worse after he had 16 carries for 68 yards Sunday. Hyde first played through the injury when it occurred in the first quarter of a loss to the Rams on Sept. 21.

In other injury news, linebacker Reuben Foster (ankle), safety Eric Reid (knee), linebacker Dekoda Watson (groin) and safety Adrian Colbert (hamstring) did not practice. Linebacker NaVorro Bowman, left tackle Joe Staley and linebacker Elvis Dumervil were given veteran rest days.
