Kent G. Bouma, age 77, formerly of Menlo Park, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members following a cardiac arrest. A native of Vancouver, WA, he was born to Louise and Gayle Bouma, alongside siblings Garrett, Erin and Shannon. He attended Clark College in WA before transferri­ng to San Jose State, eventually receiving a Master’s in Electrical Engineerin­g. He enlisted in the US Navy, completed basic training and flight school at NAS Pensacola, FL and retired from the Naval Reserves as a Captain at Moffett Field in Mountain View, CA. He had a distinguis­hed 32 year career working at PG&E designing transmissi­on towers and working in R&D.

A devoted congregant of Menlo Church, he was generous and charitable, always finding time to tutor students and drive meals to people in need. Most of all he cherished spending time with his family and friends, and delighted in hiking, reading and learning about history. He was predecease­d by his parents, and grandchild, Joe, and is survived by his wife of 24 years, Joan, her children, Cheryl, Lauren (Brian) and Darin (Sheri), and grandchild­ren Christy, Peter, Katie, Spencer (Kristi), Paul (Samantha), Sam, Sydney, and Jessie, and great-grandchild Jackson, as well as his former wife, Beverly, and their children, Todd (Diana), Kimberly (Mike), Bryan (Lisa) and Kristen (Ignacio), and grandchild­ren Kyra, Alyssa, Vanessa and Jaden.

A Memorial will be held at 2pm on Monday, Oct 9, 2017 at Menlo Park Presbyteri­an Church at 950 Santa Cruz Ave, Menlo Park, CA.
