Raiders beat: Carr was inactive, but he pushed to play.

Despite speculation that he could be in uniform one week after suffering a broken bone in his back, Derek Carr was inactive for the first time this season and watched Sunday’s game from the sideline.

Wearing long gray shorts and a black sweatshirt, Carr joined Khalil Mack, Rodney Hudson, Reggie Nelson and James Cowser for the pregame coin flip but was otherwise a spectator as EJ Manuel directed the Raiders’ offense.

“Took the time that we had, decided that it was best not to play him today,” Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said. “He was pushing pretty hard to play. There was enough of a decision where I made him questionable.”

Asked if he had a good feel that Carr would play next week against the Chargers, Del Rio deadpanned: “Yeah, I have that feel.”

With Carr on the sideline and in street clothes, Connor Cook was active for the first time this season. Missing Cooper: Wide receiver Amari Cooper continues to be a nonfactor. The 2015 firstround draft pick was limited to one catch for 8 yards and only two passes were thrown in his direction.

In the past three games, Cooper has four catches for 23 yards; he began the season with nine receptions in the first two games.

Cooper didn’t stick around to talk, but Manuel said Cooper’s lack of action was a result of the flow of the game.

“I was just going through my reads honestly,” Manuel said. “Of course, we want to get Coop to touch the ball as much as possible, but looking back on it, you do want to be clean with your reads. When it’s time for him to get the ball, obviously you want to throw it to him. But when it’s not, it’s not.” Injuries: Rookie middle linebacker Marquel Lee had to be helped off the field in the fourth quarter after going down with an apparent right ankle injury. Tyrell Adams replaced him for the remainder of the game.

Also unable to finish were fullback Jamize Olawale (concussion), linebacker Cory James and backup cornerback Antonio Hamilton (knee injuries). Also missing: Gabe Jackson’s 41-start streak ended when the right guard joined Carr on the inactive list with a foot injury. Jackson has been slowed by a right foot injury that kept him limited in practice last week.

Cornerbacks David Amerson and Gareon Conley were also inactive. Amerson suffered a concussion during last week’s loss to the Broncos but was cleared after passing the NFL protocol. Conley, Oakland’s first-round pick, missed his third game this season because of a shin injury. Jon Feliciano started in place of Jackson, and TJ Carrie replaced Amerson. Ward lights the torch: Recently retired undefeated boxing champion and Oakland native Andre Ward lit the Al Davis memorial torch before the game. Ward wore a Marshawn Lynch No. 24 jersey and was introduced to cheers.
