Kaepernick should have been suspended: Trump

-

In an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” airing Wednesday night, President Trump said the NFL could’ve avoided the issue of players kneeling during the national anthem by suspending Kaepernick.

“I watched Colin Kaepernick and I thought it was terrible,” Trump said. “And then it got bigger and bigger and started mushrooming.

“And frankly, the NFL should have suspended him for one game and he would have never done it again. They could have then suspended him for two games, and they could have suspended him again if he did it a third time, for the season, and you would never have had a problem.” Hogan named starter: Kevin Hogan was fourth on the depth chart in training camp. Now the Stanford alum is poised to become the Browns’ 28th starting quarterback since 1999.

Hogan will replace struggling rookie DeShone Kizer and start at Houston on Sunday. Hogan has come off the bench three times this season and produced points for Cleveland (0-5), which is 1-20 in two seasons under coach Hue Jackson.

“Kevin has always been right there in my opinion,” Jackson said. “I watched him play last year for this football team. I watched him play in the preseason. Kevin has always been right there.” Peterson reports: Adrian Peterson has joined a team with the worst running game in the NFL, a situation he’s certain he still has the ability to change.

“I have so much left,” the 32-year-old running back said after going through his first practice with the Cardinals. “I’d love to play at least four or five more years, God willing. I have a lot left in the tank.”

Arizona acquired Peterson from the Saints on Tuesday in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick. Briefly: The Giants suspended Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie indefinitely after the cornerback left the team’s facilities before practice. No reason was given . ... The Lions put defensive tackle Haloti Ngata on injured reserve and signed defensive tackle Caraun Reid and defensive end Datone Jones. They also cut linebacker Thurston Armbrister . ... The Cowboys released cornerback Nolan Carroll.
