Brian Wilson’s final run with “Pet Sounds”

- — Aidin Vaziri

Brian Wilson is not planning to retire. We repeat: Brian Wilson is not planning to retire.

But the Beach Boys’ onetime resident genius is on the road performing the group’s classic 1966 opus, “Pet Sounds,” in its entirety for what he says will be the final time. For fans, that means this be the last time they get to hear the lush, heartbreaking tunes like “Caroline, No,” “God Only Knows” and “I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times” performed onstage by the man who wrote them (and essentially inspired the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”).

Wilson, 75, and his 10-piece band — including founding Beach Boy Al Jardine and the band’s guitarist Terence “Blondie” Chaplin — started the tour last year to mark the album’s 50th anniversary and had so much fun they have kept the party going. They are scheduled to play at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga on Friday, Oct. 13.
