Joe Ranieri

Joe Ranieri was born December 28, 1936 in Chicago Heights, Illinois and died on October 8, 2017 in Chico, California. He moved, with his family, to San Francisco, California in 1943. The journey was by Pullman railroad car filled with military personnel.

Joe was raised in San Francisco and graduated from Riordan High School in 1955. He also attended San Francisco City College and San Francisco State College. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

In 1960, Joe became a stock broker with the prestigiou­s Sutro & Co. in San Francisco. In 1974, Joe and wife Joan and three children left the “City by the Bay”, moving to Oroville, California “The City of Gold”. He worked as a stock broker manager for Birr-Wilson & Co. until 1989 when he stepped out on his own as an independen­t contractor with Raymond James Financial Services.

Joe was deservedly proud of his career accomplish­ments, his family and his much loved grandchild­ren as well as lifelong friends dating back to elementary school. He enjoyed cooking and was a fan of the Giants and Warriors.

He was predecease­d by parents Victor and Edith Ranieri, brother Daniel and his infant son Daniel Joseph. He is survived by loving wife Lydia, his children Daniel and Victoria (Kelly) Ranieri and Elizabeth (Grant) Hermann and beloved grandchild­ren Chloe and Aiden Hermann.

He is also survived by stepsons Edward and Kurt Hamlin, and step grandchild­ren Dana, Jamie, John and Leo, numerous great grandchild­ren, and by his sister Elaine and Michael Robinson and their family.

Joe requested memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 36105 A private family service was held in San Francisco.
