NIGHTMARE ISLAND

On select spooky nights through the Halloween month, the historic Mare Island Ammunition Depot/ Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve turns spinechill­ing with its Undertaker theme walk-around horror show and preserve fundraiser. Guests are encouraged to come in costume and bring flashlight­s. New this year is a two-part haunted house, including an upgraded Extreme Terror section with extra scary actors and live animatroni­cs. Also new: The Hysterical Emporium will be open every night, selling weird curiositie­s with multiple food vendors on-site. 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 15, 20-22, 27-29 & 31. 8TH ANNUAL MAD HATTER HOLIDAY FESTIVAL

What’s not to love about the Wonderland Festival Activities that include dancing horses cavorting around giant (costumed) white rabbits? It’s part of the Alice-themed parade starting at 4:30 p.m. at Georgia St. and Sonoma Blvd. But start the fun with craft and food vendors and children's games beginning at 2 p.m. in Unity Plaza at John F. Kennedy Library, then move on to the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. at the library, and a finale Lighted Boat Parade on the waterfront at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2. Events are free. www.hattervall­ejo.com.

8TH ANNUAL GRAND VICTORIAN HOMES TOUR OF VALLEJO

The downtown Vallejo neighborho­od is known for its late 19th century architectu­re, including the elaboratel­y ornamented Italianate design Daniel Webster Harrier House, built in 1870 by the founder and president of the Vallejo Bank.
