Wallace “Wally” A. Myers passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 10, 2017, at age 94. He was preceded in death by his devoted partner, Henry “Boots” F. Thurlow. Wally will be sorely missed by his late mother’s family, Richard and Ruth Munter and their children, and by the family of Irene “Reni” Rothschild and her grown children, Diana (Gabe Risk) Rothschild, Leah (Jonathan) Eggers, Amalia (Cheick Keita) Rothschild-Keita, and Daniel Rothschild. Wally will also be greatly missed by the devoted family of Henry’s, Susan and Sal Catinella, and their grown children Aileen (Joe) Carmichael, Patti Catinella, and Anthony (Lisa) Catinella.

Wally will be remembered by his friends and family as having a loving, generous heart. He will be thought of as a dedicated partner to Henry, and as someone who had enduring friendships, a gracious manner, a principled outlook, a warm presence, and a soothing voice that put everyone at ease.

A San Francisco native, Wally graduated from George Washington High School and University of California at Berkeley. He served in the United States Navy and loved his country. As part of his passion for American and World history, Wally created notable scrapbooks filled with newspaper articles, photographs, and original memorabilia related to momentous events such as the May 1937 opening of the Golden Gate Bridge. In addition to serving his country, Wally greatly enjoyed his retail career, including his roles as a buyer and salesman for The Emporium department store in San Francisco. He also held a deep appreciation for theater, music, and dining out with Henry and their dear friends. He was a charter member of the San Francisco Chapter of Black Tie International, which he and Henry greatly enjoyed.

A private Celebration of Life was held this fall to honor the lives of Wally and Henry.
