- — Tom FitzGerald

Where: Corvallis, Ore. When: 6 p.m. TV/Radio: ESPN/1050 Story lines: The Cardinal shoot for their fifth straight win. Meanwhile, the struggling Beavers are trying to regroup under interim coach Cory Hall following the departure of Gary Andersen on Oct. 9. For Stanford, the game shapes up as a tuneup for subsequent matchups with Pac-12 North contenders Washington State and Washington.

Injuries: Stanford — RB Bryce Love (ankle) will be a game-time decision, head coach David Shaw said. OG Brandon Fanaika (undisclosed) and CB Terrence Alexander (arm) are out. LB Mustafa Branch (undisclosed) is doubtful. Oregon State — QB Jake Luton (thoracic spine fracture), WR Seth Collins (undisclosed), CB Xavier Crawford (back), CB Dwayne Williams (knee) and S Austin Hudson (ankle) are out. CB Jay Irvine (hamstring), S David Morris (concussion) and G Trent Moore (shoulder) are doubtful.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

Stanford is probably inclined to rest Love and let Cameron Scarlett, Trevor Speights and Dorian Maddox carry the ball against the porous Beavers. OSU is allowing 200.1 rushing yards per game, ranking next to last in the Pac-12.

On the other hand, the Cardinal haven’t been impregnable against the run, either. They are giving up 195.4 yards per game on the ground (third worst in the conference), and OSU’s Ryan Nall isn’t called “Wrecking Nall” for nothing. He had a season-high 172 rushing yards and three touchdowns against Colorado on Oct. 14.

Oregon State hopes to redshirt Conor Blount and Aidan Willard. With Luton out, redshirt freshman safety Mason Moran is the backup quarterback if starter Darell Garretson is injured. The coaches are giving Moran a crash course in the playbook.
