OFFENSE

DEFENSE

A ragtag unit limited the season-low NFL’s offense fifthranke­d 304 to a yards and 19 first downs, which matched its second fewest of the season. Philadelph­ia’s offense managed four punts and three points on its first five drives and scored just 10 points in the first half. The defense finally broke, but the 49ers kept it unexpected­ly competitiv­e for nearly a half.

SPECIAL TEAMS

partially The allowed blocked blocked 49ers try and fieldgoal a punt, a and Taylor punt (2 returns, returner 9 Trent yards) didn’t make an impact. The good news: Robbie Gould drilled a 50-yard field goal and Bradley Pinion (8 punts, 41.3 net average) had a kick downed at the 2-yard line.

COACHING

Defensive Saleh tested Robert coordinato­r new starting left tackle Halapouliv­aati Vaitai and made QB Carson Wentz uncomforta­ble with a steady diet of blitzes. Kyle Shanahan was forced to stick to primarily short passes after the injuries to the offensive line put Beathard’s health in serious jeopardy.

OVERALL

The 49ers weren’t all that talented in Week 1 and now an inordinate amount of injuries have helped make them punching bags the past two games (combined score: 73-20). They can take some solace in this: It’s halfway over.
