Carlos “Chuck” Martinez III

7/29/59 – 10/18/17

Born in Burlingame and raised in South San Francisco, Chuck attended El Camino High School and later settled in Belmont, CA. For the last 35 years he has been a respected and highly regarded employee at PG&E, where he started his career as a Gas Helper and worked his way to Gas Construction Supervisor. Later in life, Chuck, as many people know him, opted to started using his given name Carlos. Outside of work there wasn’t much he wasn’t good at. Carlos was known for taking on multiple projects around the house including a kitchen remodel and building a beautiful bench out of scrap wood. In his free time, he loved working on his ‘51 Chevy (for about the last 15 years), taking his Harley on cross-country motorcycle trips, exploring the famous National Parks, regularly attending Giants games, spending time with family and having a beer with friends on the back deck.

His son, Kevin Martinez, nephew Brenden Vigil, and mother, Rose Martinez preceded him in death. Survived by his daughter Julia Martinez (Patrick), his loving long-time partner, Deon Teeple, his stepdaughters, Anne Grimes (Jack), Keri West and grandchildren, Leighton, Weston, Thea, and Karson. His father Charlie Martinez, brother Bill Martinez, sister Susan Vigil, nephew Carlos Martinez, and niece Alena Martinez survive Chuck.

The unexpected passing of Carlos, Chuck, or even the Honey Badger as he was known, has left his friends and family heartbroken and he will be missed dearly. He was the best of the best and could always be depended on for wisdom, love, tough love, support, and a good laugh. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 2 at 11:30 AM at San Mateo Marriott, 1770 Amphlett Blvd. San Mateo, CA 94402. Due to limited parking all guests are highly encouraged to carpool or use Uber/Lyft.
