Memphis’ treys too much for L.A.

-

Mike Conley scored 22 points and the Memphis Grizzlies made 13 three-pointers and dominated off the bench to beat the host Los Angeles Clippers 113-104 on Saturday.

The Grizzlies had seven players score in double figures, including all four reserves. Conley returned to the lineup after sitting out the previous game with a sore Achilles.

“Any time you can get multiple guys in double figures, it means the ball’s moving, everybody’s in rhythm, people are being unselfish,” said Grizzlies coach David Fizdale.

The Memphis backups outscored the Los Angeles reserves 55-22.

Blake Griffin scored 30 points to lead the Clippers, who too often found their offense motionless and Griffin forced to go one-on-one.

“I don’t think we should rely on anyone too much,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. “We should just move the ball and play. The ball will find the better players always. We have to get away from just looking for one guy.”

The Clippers were 4-for-26 from three-point range; the Grizzlies went 13-for-31 from beyond the arc.

“I’ll take threes anytime we can get them,” Fizdale said. “I’ve seen enough games where we’ve been on the dismal end of the three-point shooting.”

Tyreke Evans led the Memphis reserves with 20 points. The Grizzlies also got 13 from Brandan Wright, 12 from Mario Chalmers and 10 from Chandler Parsons. Starting center Marc Gasol added 21 points.

The Clippers struggled to mount much offense beyond Griffin. Patrick Beverley scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to finish with 23. No other Clipper scored more than Lou Williams’ 13. Timberwolves 112, Mavericks 99: Karl-Anthony Towns had 31 points and 12 rebounds, Andrew Wiggins added 23 points on 9-for-14 shooting and host Minnesota beat Dallas for its first four-game winning streak in nearly five years. In Holding Mavericks scoring leader Harrison Barnes without a point in the second half, the Wolves enjoyed a blowout after the margin of their previous five victories totaled just 17 points. The last time they won four games in a row was Dec. 7-15, 2012.

Pelicans 96, Bulls 90: Anthony Davis had 27 points and 16 rebounds as visiting New Orleans edged Chicago in overtime. DeMarcus Cousins added 25 points and 11 rebounds — 18 and seven after halftime — to help the Pelicans snap a six-game, regularseason losing streak to the Bulls. Jameer Nelson added 13 points, Darius Miller had 11, and Jrue Holiday 10 for New Orleans. Denzel Valentine scored 16 and Lauri Markkanen and Robin Lopez had 14 apiece for the Bulls, who were coming off their first road victory.

Pistons 108, Kings 99: Andre Drummond had 16 points and 19 rebounds to help host Detroit beat Sacramento. The Pistons improved to 7-3 with their fifth victory in six games. Avery Bradley had 24 points, and Tobias Harris added 20. Sacramento lost its seventh straight game to fall to 1-8. Zach Randolph led the Kings with 19 points.
