Becky Madding passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 6, 2017 in Georgetown, TX with her family at her side. Previously a resident of Hillsborough, CA she moved to Texas in 2014 to be near her daughter, Teen Madding Roberts.

Becky was born in Evanston, Illinois, the third daughter of Clementine Sheaffer Waldron and Harry E Waldron. She spent her childhood in Evanston and in Fort Madison, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Vassar College in 1944.

She met and married Gordon Francis Madding, MD on February 9, 1946 and they began their married life in San Angelo, Texas where Dr. Madding started his medical career after the War. Four of her five children were born in Texas before they moved to the Bay Area in 1954 where they resided in Hillsborough until her recent move. Mrs. Madding was a recognized leader in the Junior League and the Society for Crippled Children and Adults (now VIA Services). She was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame for many years.

Mrs. Madding is survived by her children, John W. Madding (Colleen) of Bend, Oregon; Bruce W. Madding (Margie) of Atherton, CA; Clementine M. Roberts (Bill) of Georgetown, TX; and Gregory H. Madding (Sherry) of Hillsborough, CA; her 18 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 1989 by her husband of then 43 years, Gordon F. Madding, and her son, Mark S. Madding. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters. As the matriarch of the Waldron family she leaves behind many nieces and nephews of whom she was quite fond. The constant throughout her life was the joy in participating in each of her family members’ lives… sharing in their successes and providing support when needed. She was also devoted to her many friends.

A private family service will be held at a future date. The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the charity of your choice.
