-

Maria Estebana Jarquin passed away peacefully in Millbrae, CA on Monday October 30, 2017 with her family by her side. Maria was born in Acoyapa, Nicaragua to Humberto and Michaela Reyes on November 21, 1919. She moved to Managua in her late teens and worked as a seamstress, a craft that allowed her as a single mother to raise two daughters. Maria met Ysmael Jarquin in Granada and the two were married in 1953 after immigrating to San Francisco. Together they raised five children in a home they purchased in Visitation Valley. Maria’s passion was sewing; she worked in the garment industry for 30 years, retiring in the early 1980s. After her husband died unexpectedly in 1993, Maria played a vital role in caring for her grandchildren and for this we are forever grateful. Maria was a devout Catholic who loved to travel. Maria continued to live in Visitation Valley, hosting family gatherings on holidays until declining health forced her to move to Millbrae with her daughter Anna and her two daughters. Maria is survived by daughters Lourdes (John) Aura, Anna, Maria (Martin) and son Ismael, stepchildren Miguel and Norma, ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She has three brothers, Humberto, Francisco, and Jose, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 6 at 10:30AM at St. Robert’s Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Rd. San Bruno. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery 1500 Mission Rd. Colma.
