It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jonathan Yarwood.

Jonathan was one of the most vibrant, vivacious, brilliant personalities we have ever encountered. He was well liked, had the sharpest wit, was charming and always a character. We love him and miss him dearly; our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, and know that he is now with God and at Peace.

Jonathan was born in Stevenage, England, and was barely a year old when our family moved to the U.S., first living just outside Reno, NV, then to the San Francisco area. Eventually settling in the Sunset District. Jonathan had many friends growing up in a neighborhood that at the time had many families with kids on each block. There were always kids to hang out with, play, ride bikes, roller skate, and play ball with. Living near West Sunset playground, FS Key schoolyard, the Beach and GG Park, there was always something going on, whether playing pinball at Bud’s or the Cliff House, buying penny candies at Julies, ice cream at the Original Polly Anns, or going to a summer matinee at the Parkside Theatre.

Jonathan attended Sheridan and Mark Twain Elementary schools, Giannini Jr. High, and McAteer High School. He worked in various jobs in San Francisco, including one of his first jobs at Stowe Lake, managing and servicing the boat rentals. Eventually working many years in construction.

Jonathan lived in England for about the past 16 years, in the town of Tunbridge Wells. He had family and many friends there. He attended church services, volunteering when he could for those who needed help, as he also needed help and support when he faced challenges and struggles with life.

A beautiful Memorial Service was held Oct. 20th. in the U.K., attended by family and friends, and supporters of Jonathan. Many people spoke at the service about what a great person he was, and how much he will be missed.

Jonathan is survived by his mother; Patricia Butler, brother; Jeremy Yarwood Butler (Carol Hanley) sister Erin Butler, niece; Lauren Yarwood, nephews; Aiden Yarwood, Emmanuel Peace, and Valentine Peace, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, and his special niece in the U.K.; Sarah Cormican who called Jonathan her Uncle J.

All are invited to attend a Memorial Service to Honor and Celebrate Jonathan’s life, Sat. Nov. 11th. At 1:00 PM. Calvary Baptist Church; 5655 Mission St. San Francisco, CA
