A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his boyfriend to death in an apartment in the Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco, authorities said Thursday.

Othman Al-Muttalaby of San Francisco was taken into custody Tuesday at San Francisco General Hospital while being treated for an injury, police said.

Officers responded about 3 p.m. on Nov. 2 to an apartment in the 300 block of Hayes Street to conduct a welfare check on Keith Harris, police said.

Harris, 48, was found with multiple stab wounds on the floor of the apartment, police said.

He died at San Francisco General Hospital.

Al-Muttalaby, also known as Alkoraishie Ali on social media, was at the hospital being treated for an injury when sheriff ’s deputies tracked him down, police said.

There was no information immediately available on Al-Muttalaby’s injuries.

“I’m just really confused as to the why, because Keith was just really generous and he was just trying to get Ali help,” Arthur Patterson, 52, of San Francisco, a friend of Harris, told The Chronicle before AlMuttalaby’s arrest.

He added that Harris’ friends suspected AlMuttalaby was the killer when he disappeared after the stabbing.

Al-Muttalaby was charged with murder and domestic violence, according to the San Francisco district attorney’s office. He is being held without bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday.

“Keith was just a very kind person, he was really smart, and he was really generous just with his time,” Patterson said.
