Moral divide with GOP
It is unbelievable how low Republicans have sunk. First, they nominated a man for president who is morally and mentally unfit for office. Now, they turn a blind eye while Roy Moore, a person who believes that homosexual conduct should be illegal, Muslims shouldn’t be permitted to serve in Congress and claims to be a fearless crusader for traditional values, makes his Republican bid for the Alabama Senate. Come to find out Moore, as a 32-year-old assistant district attorney, allegedly kissed and fondled a 14-year-old girl and undressed her down to her underwear. Republicans have stuck to their playbook: “There’s nothing to see here, it’s fake news attributed to the former-president-Barack Obama-Hillary Clinton machine.” Really? While the statute of limitations has expired on this almost-40-years-ago sordid episode, it would have constituted sexual abuse in the second degree and be punishable by up to a year in prison under Alabama law. It is amazing we have entered a new political and moral divide where the conservative movement has abandoned the moral high ground to become disfigured beyond all recognition: a contempt for the facts, a desire to seek alternative facts, and desire to win at all costs.
