Wood’s hat trick helps Devils win

New Jersey’s Miles Wood had his first career hat trick and the Devils erased an early three-goal deficit to beat the Blackhawks 7-5 in Chicago on Sunday night.

Rookie Nico Hishier had a goal and two assists, and Andy Green, Taylor Hall and Brian Gibbons also scored for the Metropolit­an Division-leading Devils, who won their second straight after a four-game skid (0-2-2). Keith Kinkaid stopped 39 shots.

Defenseman Jan Rutta had a goal and two assists for the Blackhawks, who led 4-1 in the first period.

Former Sharks defenseman Mirco Mueller left the game after taking a hit to the head from Chicago’s John Hayden. New Jersey head coach John Hynes said Mueller suffered an upper-body injury and would see a doctor Monday. Lightning 2, Ducks 1: J.T. Brown scored the tie-breaking goal in the third period as visiting Tampa Bay won its fourth in a row.

Vladislav Namestniko­v also scored and Andrei Vasilevski­y stopped 28 shots to help the Lightning prevail against a team that handed them one of their two regulation losses this season. Capitals 2, Oilers 1: T.J. Oshie scored the only goal of the shootout to lift host Washington.
